Responsible Gambling Policy
1. Our Commitment
CanadaStrike Canada Ltd. is committed to providing a safe, fair, and responsible gambling environment for all players. We believe that gambling should be an enjoyable form of entertainment, not a source of financial or emotional distress. We take our duty of care seriously and have invested in comprehensive responsible gambling tools, staff training, and partnerships with leading support organisations.
This Responsible Gambling Policy describes our approach to player protection, the tools available to you, and the resources you can access if gambling is causing problems. We encourage all players to read this policy carefully and to use the tools available to keep gambling fun.
2. Know the Risks
Gambling involves real money and carries a risk of financial loss. The house edge means that over time, most players will lose more than they win. Gambling should never be viewed as a way to make money, solve financial problems, or cope with stress or emotional difficulties.
Certain individuals may be more vulnerable to developing gambling-related problems. Risk factors include a personal or family history of addiction, mental health challenges, financial stress, and easy access to gambling. CanadaStrike actively monitors player behaviour for signs of harm and will intervene when necessary.
3. Recognising Problem Gambling
Problem gambling can develop gradually and may be difficult to recognise from the inside. Warning signs include:
- Spending more time or money gambling than originally intended;
- Chasing losses — betting more to try to win back money already lost;
- Lying to family, friends, or employers about gambling activity or losses;
- Borrowing money, selling assets, or neglecting bills to fund gambling;
- Feeling anxious, irritable, or restless when not gambling;
- Using gambling to escape from problems, boredom, or negative emotions;
- Neglecting work, study, family, or social obligations because of gambling;
- Repeatedly trying and failing to cut back or stop gambling;
- Experiencing relationship breakdowns as a result of gambling.
If you recognise any of these signs in yourself or someone you know, please reach out to one of the support services listed in Section 8 of this policy.
4. Our Responsible Gambling Tools
All tools are available immediately and free of charge in your CanadaStrike account settings under “Responsible Gambling.” We strongly encourage all players to review and set limits before they begin playing.
4.1 Deposit Limits
Set a maximum amount you can deposit over a daily, weekly, or monthly period. Reductions take effect immediately. Increases are subject to a mandatory 7-day cooling-off period to prevent impulsive decisions. Once a lower limit is set, it cannot be raised until the cooling-off period has elapsed.
4.2 Wager Limits
Set a maximum stake per single bet or per day/week/month across all bets. This helps prevent high-risk single bets or runaway spending in a short period. Reductions take effect immediately; increases require the 7-day review period.
4.3 Time Limits
Set a maximum duration for each gambling session. When your session time is up, you will be automatically logged out and will not be able to log back in until the following day. This tool is especially useful for preventing “time blindness” during gambling sessions.
4.4 Reality Checks
Set a reminder interval (e.g. every 30 minutes) to receive a pop-up notification showing how long you have been logged in, your net win/loss for the session, and the option to continue or end your session. Reality checks help you stay aware of time and money spent.
4.5 Cool-Off Periods
Take a short break from gambling without fully excluding yourself. Available periods are 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days. During a cool-off period, your account is restricted: you cannot log in, deposit, or place bets. Cool-off periods cannot be shortened once activated. At the end of the period, your account automatically reactivates.
4.6 Activity Statements
View a complete and transparent record of your account activity for any date range, including: all deposits and withdrawals with timestamps; total amount wagered; total wins and net result; bonus credits received and wagered; and time spent on the platform. Download your activity statement as a PDF directly from your account settings.
4.7 Self-Exclusion
Self-exclusion is a long-term commitment to stop gambling on the CanadaStrike platform. You can self-exclude for a minimum of 12 months, or permanently. During the exclusion period:
- Your account is immediately suspended;
- You will not receive any marketing communications;
- Any balance will be returned to your registered payment method;
- We will make reasonable efforts to prevent you from opening a new account.
Self-exclusion is irrevocable for the chosen period. Requests to reduce the exclusion period will not be granted. To self-exclude, contact our Responsible Gambling team at [email protected] or call 1-888-5676-56763 (24/7), or use the self-exclusion tool directly in your account settings.
We strongly encourage you to also register with SelfExclusion.ca, the national registry that coordinates exclusion across all registered iGaming operators in Alberta.
5. How We Identify and Support At-Risk Players
CanadaStrike uses automated monitoring tools and trained responsible gambling specialists to identify patterns of play that may indicate harm, including: significant increases in deposit frequency or amount; extended playing sessions without breaks; multiple failed withdrawal attempts; and escalating bet sizes following losses (chasing).
When our systems flag a player as potentially at risk, we may take one or more of the following actions: send an in-platform notification with responsible gambling information; contact you by email or phone to check on your wellbeing; restrict your account pending a welfare review; or apply responsible gambling limits on your behalf.
We will never ask you to justify your decision to use responsible gambling tools or impose additional barriers to self-exclusion.
6. Protecting Minors
CanadaStrike operates a strict 19+ policy. All players are required to verify their age during registration using government-issued identification. Age verification checks may also be triggered during gameplay. Accounts found to belong to persons under 19 will be immediately closed and any balance returned.
We strongly encourage parents and guardians to use parental control software to prevent minors from accessing gambling websites. Recommended tools include:
- Gamban — Blocks gambling websites across all devices;
- BetBlocker — Free gambling blocking software;
- Net Nanny — Comprehensive parental control and content filtering.
7. Staff Training
All CanadaStrike customer-facing staff receive mandatory responsible gambling training upon joining and annually thereafter. Training covers: how to recognise signs of problem gambling in player interactions; how to sensitively raise concerns with players; how to apply responsible gambling tools and escalate welfare cases; and the full range of external support services available.
